First Steps to Greatness? [Yumi]

Yumi hummed quietly to herself as they walked along the streets of dawn island. She had a coin pouch in hand and cheerily counted off how much they had left, surprisingly with all the recent "work" they'd been doing, they were far better off in terms of supplies, despite the fact their crew was rapidly increasing. The supplies her swordsman, Bun was carrying, were more than enough to feed them for another week on the sea, maybe two if they preserved it well enough. "We get this stuff back to the crew and they'll be jumping for joy. Markus can make us a big meal tonight with those new spices we splurged on."

As they continued on down the path, Yumi noticed a small commotion going on with her keen eyes. It wasn't uncommon for people to gather in groups in a place like this though. Maybe a store was having some odd sale or something? It was likely nothing to take note of, and if it was, why should they care? It wasn't like they should poke their noses in where they didn't belong. Glancing up to her crew mate speaking, blinking as she caught something out of the corner of her eye, reaching her hand out but too late to warn him, just catching him as he stumbled with the rude man bumping into him, Yumi watching him leave. "How rude..."

She continued to follow him with her eyes, noting him running off to the commotion she noted earlier, and even hearing the same conversation Bun seemed to pick up on, following with her swordsman by her side and a cautious hand on her left holster, now curious as to what was actually happening. "Yeah...sounds like something interesting is going on..." Following behind the guys towards the crowd, she mingled in, watching the marines guard, or take to a stage everyone seemed to be glancing to either nervously or with excitement in their eyes. Some wanting to be here, some not, some perhaps wishing what was about to happen, wasn't.

On the stage, Yumi noted 3 men, and a single woman, each with their heads bowed and marines beside them. An officer stood before the audience, wearing the typical "justice" coat and addressing the crowd.

"Ladies and gentleman of Dawn island! Today, we shall be showing you what a life of piracy and criminal behaviour will bring upon you. Let this be a warning..." He slowly seemed to grin, putting Yumi on edge, and making her slightly angry. "And entertainment."

"Well...we know what the commotion was about..."

Yumi wasn't even sure why she was watching this. It was stuff like this that made her despise both the marines and pirates alike. Watching them both take such extreme measures to "rid the world of pirates." It's not like their weren't other options, and even then, they couldn't say they were al heavenly themselves. Marines likely cost the world as much as pirates, even in terms of casualties.

"Yeah...maybe we shouldn't stick around..."

She was about to start moving when her keen eyes caught the look of shock on one of the pirate's faces. He looked astonished to see something, someone in the crowd, and before long, it was easy enough for Yumi to tell who, her swordsman and current partner, Bunji, calling out his old nickname. Yumi tensed up, instantly seeing what was about the happen as the man only confirmed once again, and Yumi had a box of food shoved into her chest, grasping around it and making sure none of it spilled to the ground. She knew what was going to happen, but it was all a blur as it took place before her. Bun's red head rushed up on stage and she wasn't even sure if he pulled his blades. She was sure of one thing though.

A captain always went down with her ship.

Dropping the small crate of food, neatly of course, she ran over towards the stage, fleet of foot and hopping up behind her swordsman rather quickly, pulling out her pistols and thwacking the marine holding the execution halberd across the chin as he tried to attack Bun from behind. Aiming her pistols at the two marines in her sites with her eyes to Bunji, she spoke confidently, with a somewhat delighted grin.

"Ladies and gentleman, we are proud to announce this execution has been interupted by an important announcement from the broken chopsticks crew!"

Slashes and cuts sounded out around Yumi. She was surprised as she watched over her shoulder with quick glances and flashes of action as Bunji cut and sliced through the marines. For godsake they were just trying to, figuratively, cut and run, not kill anyone! He really wasn't helping hid his od rep when now not only did they interupt an execution but now they'd killed...she counted as he moved, the two behind and soon the toy she had aimed at. Great, there went any use for her out of the window. She sometimes found it confusing that he was so protective of her to such a weird level. It was oddly flattering too though.

"A-alright geeze, sorry for looking out for my crew." She twirled her pistols by the trigger with enough skill not to actually fire them, pushing them down into their holsters. She glanced to the captured people only to watch the girl of the three unlocking the others. Boy Bun had been moving fast...she guessed he really wasn't joking about having experience. It didn't feel good to leave "criminals" to fend for themselves as Bun and her ran away, so with quick movements, she drew swords from the downed marines, tossing them at the excutionees. "Use these, get as far away as you can and lay low. The heat'll be on us.~"

With that out of the way Yumi had no other reason to stick about, rushing off with Bun towards the Docks. She had no doubt the officer she knocked out would get up soon and sound an alert on his Den Den mushi. Once that was done, Marines would be coming at them from all paths.

As they rushed for escape it would seem like the swordsman had everything covered. As Yumi watched him cut and hack away to get the marines off their back. He even managed to find the time to shove their fruit into satchels as the marines were coming towards them. Admittadly it was a huge help, slapping it around her shoulders, over the satchel carrying her rifle parts. What alarmed Yumi the most was that he had originally found this pirate toting pistols, not swords. The fact that he seemed so proficient in both straight from the start was what was alarming.

With their path majorly blocked off, Yumi followed Bun, as he seemed to have a better idea what was going on. Before long she was kicking off his readied hands and leaping over the wall behind his loyal companion, seeming to flip over it with surprising athletics, spinning mid flip and landing backwards, staggering back as she looked at the wall, not even sure if she had meant to do that...true she tended to have a natural knack for that, but that spinning flip was exceptionally difficult to pull off. "W-whatever you sa-WOAH!" With Bun soon joining her, an axe, and soon, a lug of a marine burst through the wall they had to leap over. Not wanting to get a taste of that steel herself, much less the muscle behind it, she rushed off, hoping Bunji would be in tow. Odds were, seeing as Bunji had rushed off first, he hadn't seen the tank of a man burst through chasing after them.

Too busy rushing towards the docks, Yumi had hardly even heard him tell her to go ahead again, instead, just as she got out of the alleys, the docks now in view, she heard an array of explosions, not even sure what the hell had happened behind her. With a quick glance back, and the colorful lights flashing out. It was enough to let her know whatever it was wasn't a serious level explosion. Back to the ship, it seemed the marines knew were any pirates would go if they were trying to escape, as a good couple seemed to be guarding the board walk up to her boat.

"Jesus...these guys don't quit!"

Pulling out her pistols, she could only think that it was now or never, rushing forward as they held up their swords, ready to hack away at the captain heading towards them. Luckily, with quick glances, she could tell none of them knew wich ship was hers thanks to the lack of a jolly roger. Two marines would come at her and she would fall to her knees, sliding across the dewy grass and raising her pistols as swords flashed across her line of sight, shots fired out and disabling the marines as they rang through their legs. Two down two to go. The others hardly seemed phased, the clacking of their boots along the boardwalk music to Yumi's ears as her keen eyes scanned them. Holstering one pistol, she knew it would only take one shot.

"Bye bye boys."

Holding her custom pistol in both eyes, Yumi fired with careful aim, the force pushing back on her wrists but holding steady, firing true as it blasted into the hand of the closest marine. His hand burning from the shot and his sword flying back into the others arm. With both staggered, a quick rush forward and two swift kicks was all it took to send them into the docks, turning at the sound of her crew member, hands on hips with a confident smile. "You took your sweet time.~"
