Ginika was born in the South Blue to a famous Marine captain, whom she never actually met. She was regaled with stories of his deeds all throughout her childhood, and as such, she wanted very much to be like her father, who by this point she almost revered as a god. She began training in fighting with her uncle, while her mother insisted upon teaching her daughter to sing. She refused to allow Ginika to enter the wide world without a "beautiful skill". She also home-schooled Gin, nurturing her immense intelligence. She devoured books when she wasn't training, gaining a fervor for learning that rivaled her admiration for her father. She joined the local Marine division when she was 9, mostly because her mother no longer had any books she hadn't read nine times over.

While training to be a Marine, she kept up her studies. She grew close to the researchers who worked at the base, often going out on research excursions with them starting when she was 12. She began to garner a reputation for her sheer prowess; she was highly intelligent, a skilled fighter, and a talented performer. She earned the nickname "Diva" for her singing voice, which she was more than happy to demonstrate. If you managed to get her nose out of a book. She began developing her antisocial tendencies and picked up tobacco in order to further her own studies, beginning to seclude herself for days, to train her body and mind. Many of her comrades began to fear for her health, but every time she emerged, she'd managed to develop some radical new weapon or vastly improve upon an old one. A torrent of tobacco smoke also flowed freely from her door when it was open.

She also began to abandon her singing, up until she found the Utao-Utao no Mi on a research trip close to Reverse Mountain. She decided to eat it after being unable to determine anything substantial by examining it from the outside, and upon discovering its power, immediately began training her singing again. Her old nickname of "Diva" returned full-force and with a vengeance, her singing voice now not only famous, but deadly. She used her new abilities to further her research, making several strides in the way of the Marine's understanding of the Devil Fruits. She often experimented upon lower-ranked Marines, earning a reputation as the South Blue's resident mad scientist, and her actions were fully sanctioned. After all, she was researching her Devil Fruit. Her superiors think the power went to her head a little bit, but aren't willing to bring it up.

When she was 24, she was awarded a promotion, both to Marine Captain and to the office of Vegapunk. She never learned what had happened to the previous Vegapunk, but didn't much care. She received her own ship, which she immediately tricked out to hell, automating it almost completely and eliminating the need for a crew. Most of the her old comrades at her base collectively sighed in relief. All alone on the high seas, Gin began undergoing another change in personality, especially after meeting an odd drifter and getting in a few fights on her own. She made a vow to not kill a living being, both after seeing how death tore men apart emotionally and out of a wish to not waste perfectly good test subjects. She also began behaving in a far more libertine manner. Solitude does odd things to a woman, and Gin was hit hard.

• ⚔ Flash Cord - A unique weapon, a spool of electrum wire coated in kairoseki, combined with a small Bolt Dial all kept in a small apparatus on Gin's wrists no bigger than the average bracelet. It serves as a very fast weapon, the Dial allowing the wire to serve effectively as a Tazer. She can also use the whip to inflict cuts no differently from the average sword.
  
• ⚔ Shackle Cannon - A weapon Gin developed specifically to restrain unruly test subjects but has found an unexpected amount of combat usage, it looks no different from a Shandian Burn Bazooka. But the meaningful difference comes in what it fires. While a Burn Bazooka fires a jet-stream of flame, the Shackle Cannon fires a proximity-activated shell of Iron Cloud that encases the target from head to toe.

She completely automated a good few of the vital functions, effectively eliminating the need for a crew and allowing her to take over the entire below-decks area not dedicated to storage. • ▶ Genius-level intellect - She has the title of Vegapunk for a very good reason. She's believed to be one of, if not the, most intelligent person in the Navy. She's a highly skilled inventor and roboticist, and she has dabbled in chemistry, botany, biology, architecture and philosophy. She takes pride in knowing enough about such a wide variety of topics, she can carry on a decent conversation on any one of them.
  
• ▶ Skilled fighter - She's trained from young childhood in a variety of styles, never mastering or even particularly excelling at any one. However, she's managed to blend these scattered skills into a style all her own, one involving her brain just as much as her body.
