[attr="class","iden"] [attr="class","title"]Identification Full Name: Hughes Brewster Aliases: Hooter Hughes Date of Birth: 01/09 Zodiac Sign: Virgo Sexuality: Heterosexual Crew: Hughes's High-Seas Hooter Hut Alignment: True Neutral Personal Jolly Roger: N/A [attr="class","appear"] [attr="class","title"]Appearance Height: 5' 10" Weight: 180 Hair Color: His hair is brown, usually kept trimmed fairly short. Years of fairly regularly moving at rather high speeds have given it a naturally windblown look, and he's given up on making it neater. He also has a patch of hair on his chin. Eye Color: Brown Attire: Despite being a businessman and owner of one of the most upstanding (despite the protestations of many an old woman and not as many an old man) establishments in the biz, he dresses rather casually. He wears a dark purple shirt with a large collar, often popped outward, with a lighter purple double-breasted jacket over it. In colder weather, he replaces it with a double-breasted black leather jacket with purple trim He also wears a pair of blue jeans and a heavy pair of brown shoes, which are actually his Mach Treads (see below). He also generally wears a pair of goggles pushed up on his forehead, which serve two purposes; they keep his hair out of his eyes while he cooks, and keep his eyes safe when he's giving the Flash a run for his money. On a very rare occasion, he'll replace them with a simple headband, black with a wide purple stripe in the center. Abnormalities: He has several scars on his chest and arms that are several years old. They all look like they were inflicted by a knife or some sort of short bladed weapon. |

[attr="class","bg"] [attr="class","title"]Background Hughes was born the son of a photographer and his model in the lovely city of Water 7. From a very young age, he was present at the gravure photoshoots his father arranged in order to bring home the bacon. As he grew older, his father began allowing him to see the magazines he created, and the image never left his head. From that point on, Hughes was obsessed with the female form, but not in a good way. As he grew older, he was punished several times, by both his parents and the law, for touching girls in inappropriate places without their permission. His father was actually rather proud of this admiration his son had developed, but very few other people felt the way he did, so he began searching the city to find a new hobby for his son. After a good deal of looking and a couple more censures for Hughes, he settled on cooking. He set Hughes up as an apprentice chef in a restaurant next to Dock #5. He learned quickly, learning both the cooking aspect from the chef and the management aspect from the owner, who was also the chef. Within 3 years, he was serving dishes he cooked himself to the shipwrights who frequented the restaurant. One of them, as payment for the fantastic meal, began to teach him how to box. As he reached the middle of his teenage years, his dishes began to grow in game across the city. He eventually left the restaurant to start his own just across the way at the tender age of 18. He nearly immediately poached almost all of his teacher's business and forced the man to swallow his pride and partner with his former student. While working at the restaurant, his father proposed an idea, and Hughes loved it. He immediately began making major changes to his restaurant. He began hiring the most attractive girls he could find as waitstaff and altered their uniform drastically, mostly in the way of redefining the terms "short skirt" and "low-cut". The popularity of his restaurant skyrocketed literally overnight, but Hughes was determined to keep up the work in the kitchen by himself. He was only just barely able to do it, until the day they visited. A gang ransacked his restaurant, accusing him of stealing business from other honest restaurants and of disrespecting women with his employment and uniforming policies, and beat Hughes severely. Hughes tried to fight, making use of his extensive boxing training, but he was hopelessly outnumbered and went down easily, only able to watch helplessly as they destroyed his restaurant and took all of his Beli. He sat there for a couple of hours until one of his waitresses arrived for work and found him. She immediately brought him to a doctor, in the service of another gang, who patched him up as best he could. He had several scars from that day forth, and they became a defining trait about him. Hughes wore them with pride as his business boomed even bigger. People flocked to his restaurant because he's gone through that harrowing event and come out with a smile on his face. He was only 20. A year or two later, he encountered a customer who couldn't pay. As he was contemplating ways to allow this man to pay his bill without Beli, the man handed him a small box. He said it contained one of the most valuable items in the world, and it was payment for his meal. Hughes accepted the deal, and closed his restaurant for the rest of the day to deal with the item he'd just acquired. When he opened the box, his fears were confirmed; the man had paid for his meal with a Devil Fruit. Hughes was conflicted; he wanted to eat the fruit, but he knew that the abilities of the Devil Fruits were a gamble. There was no real way to tell what abilities one would acquire by eating the fruit until one did exactly that. After discussing with his father and his waitstaff, Hughes took the gamble and ate the Fruit. At first, having skin everything simply slid off of was a pain in the ass. Hughes was constantly falling and dropping things, and he was forced to close the restaurant for a bit while he adjusted to his new abilities. Little by little, he discovered the massive advantages of super-smooth skin; it was literally frictionless. Hughes began trying, and sure enough, his new powers enabled him to move at speeds far beyond what was thought possible. He began training, and soon enough, he was able to reopen his restaurant. He was more productive than ever with his new super-speed abilities; he just had to wear gloves to make sure nothing dropped. The gang returned, and Hughes beat them easily with his new powers, but decided he needed a change. He'd lived in Water 7 for all 23 years of his life at this point, and he wanted to see the rest of the world. So he began bargaining with the shipwrights at Dock #5, and sure enough, for the price of six month's worth of personally cooked dinners, they would build him a ship. He filled his end of the deal, and they kept theirs, and Hughes was the proud owner of a brand spankin' new sloop. For another two months of dinners, the shipwrights customized the interior to his specifications, and with a tearful goodbye to his father, Hughes transplanted his business onto this ship and sailed off. And thus, Hughes's High-Seas Hooter Hut was born, the worlds first floating breastaraunt. His success from Water 7 followed him onto the ocean and multiplied. Hughes visited islands as often as he could, and began sending out regular bulletins advertising where he was so people could come visit. And boy howdy, did they. |
