To say that Mika's life was uninteresting would be a severe understatement. He was born and raised in Shomotsuki Village by his parents. They insisted that he be trained in swordsmanship from a young age despite having zero talent whatsoever, as was the custom of the village. So he trained, slowly improving his skills- although by the time he was thirteen, his skill was about equal to the average six year old, and even they managed to regularly best him during sparring practice.

Ashamed of their useless son, Mika's parents sent him to join the Marines, hoping that the experience would toughen him up a little. But after being laughed out of the officer academy due to his incompetence, he ended up joining the Marines at the rank of Seaman. The lowest of the low. He was the grunt of the grunts, although by some miracle he managed to survive a full year of service. But no matter how many times he feels like quitting, he never does. Because no matter how many times he fails, the only thing he's ever wanted is to make people proud of him.

• ⚔ Broken Straight Sword - A nameless, generic straight sword. It's about a foot and a half feet long and is usually carried in a holster slung over Mika's back. The blade itself is cracked and rusted, missing the entire upper portion. It was meant to be disposed of, but it was issued to Mika as a joke because they didn't feel like giving him a 'real' weapon as a cabin boy.

• ▶ Heightened Durability - Constantly getting beaten up has it's advantages. Mika's body is covered with scars and callouses, having toughened up through years of metaphorical abuse. He's not going to be blocking any swords with his rock hard abs or anything, but he can take a punch better than most.
  
• ▶ Heroic Willpower - For all his problems, Mika has managed to pull himself through at any cost. He can push his body past it's limits, forcing himself to act even in the most dire of circumstances. Of course, with how weak he is, attempting to get involved at this point would probably be a terrible idea. But at least it can't be said that he doesn't give it his all.
• ▶ Encyclopedic Knowledge - No matter how much he trained, Mika's body remained weak. So he focused on his mind instead! Despite his youth, Mika is very knowledgeable about a great number of subjects, such as famous bounties and the current state of political affairs.
• ▶ Haki Affinity - Unbeknownst to even Mika himself, he carries great potential for Haki within him. For whatever reason, his body is naturally attuned to mystic energy, enhancing the power of his Haki. If he ever manages to learn how to utilize Haki in the first place, of course.
• ▶ Eidetic Memory (Reading) - Mika has perfect recall of everything that he has ever read. However, this talent only covers written words. His memory in other areas tends to be poor.
