[attr="class","temTitle"]Overview
[attr="class","temWrap"]
Character creation is handled with a bit more structure now. Each character has a rank assigned to them when being created. This rank is used entirely for the creation process, and really nothing after that. It is however what all the allowed abilities a character can have at start are based on, so it is rather important. The rank system is based on the canon positions, and is merely a visual grouping of the positions in terms of power.
[break][break]
Just like the abilities themselves, there are a total of five character ranks. Each of the five ranks has a certain number of what we call creation points to use when making a character or Devil Fruit. The amount of points for Devil Fruit creation is located here.
[break][break]
Each ability rank costs a set number of creation points to add to a character at start. It's a fairly simple system, as each point cost equals its rank.[break]
[break]Rank I abilities cost 1 creation point
[break]Rank II abilities cost 2 creation points
[break]Rank III abilities cost 3 creation points
[break]Rank IV abilities cost 4 creation points
[break]Rank V abilities cost 5 creation points

[attr="class","temWrap"]
As stated above, there are five ranks the various character positions fall into. Certain ranks will also have extra abilities available to them that do not require the use of any creation points.
[break][break]
Even if a character rank has enough points to purchase more than 4 Rank I abilities and/or racial traits, and 1 Rank I family trait, they can have no more than that amount. Extra points can be put toward higher ranked abilities. Humans, on top of having bonus creation points, can have an additional ability, but can have no racial traits.
[break][break]
The highest rank ability a character can start with is one rank higher than their character rank. So Rank I characters cannot start with Rank III abilities, Rank II characters cannot start with Rank IV abilities, etc... These higher ranked abilities are limited to 2 per character at creation. More can be purchased from the shop later.

[attr="class","temTitle"]Pet Ranks
[attr="class","temWrap"]
Since each character can start with a pet at no cost, there are rules to how many tricks and traits a pet can start with as well. Pet creation points scale with their owner's character rank, but are significantly lower than their owner's total. Any bonus points their owner would have also have no affect on the amount of points a pet would have. Because of this, a pet effectively has the same rank as it's owner, but they use the information listed below for each rank.
[break][break]
Additional pets purchased in the shop will not scale with their owner's rank, as they are priced based on pet rank.
[break][break]
Just like before, when creating your pet you cannot give it more than 2 traits or tricks that are one rank higher than their own rank. No matter what their owner's ranking, pets are not allowed to start with special abilities like haki and rokushiki at all. They also cannot have more than 4 traits or tricks in total at start.
