[attr="class","surprise"] SERENDIPITY Apparently, having an admiral around an area made the job requests from the nobles increase. Openly declaring their presence in a party a few nights before made them even more dogged and annoying with what they wanted. It made Miguel want to swear out loud somewhere in frustration.
However, being an admiral did have its perks. He was able to dismiss most of their requests or foist them off on his subordinates. After all, the Gorosei and the World Government themselves did say that the admirals were to only personally look into and interfere with very important things given their power level. It was doubly so in his case since he was touted to be their angel.
There was one particular request that got his attention though. It was about checking up on one of the Shichibukai that was docked around here. The pink hair and blue eyes indicated that it was most likely Nova Duke that the noble was talking about. Since it was the duty of the Marines to check on them and he hadn’t met this one before, he figured that he might as well do it. Expanding his network towards his goal would do wonders.
But where in the world could she be…? Miguel wondered as he walked around town, blatantly ignoring the stares from the normal folk due to his large frame, gray suit, and coat of justice covering his currently-small wings. All he had was a name and a face and even with his abilities that wasn’t much.
Maybe he could rely on his luck so that he would bump into her or something. Nah, that was too ridiculous even for him. At least this search allowed him to stretch his legs and walk around instead of finding ways to train in his spacious –but still cramped for a flier like him- ship. That got boring after a while. It also took his mind off that horrible party, which was a bonus.

The pinkette had found herself questioning her trusty knight as she found out what island they had docked on. There was no doubt that she should have been able to identify it before they had gotten here but she had been otherwise preoccupied. He probably knew just as much as she did if not because she had taught him so she left it to him a lot. He knew how she felt about visiting or docking on islands that had a majority of nobles running about it or visiting in general. They were not high on her list of people she wanted to run into and there were a lot of people she liked to avoid.
There was too much of a chance that someone might recognize her or the symbol that she typically wore with her armor. It was easy to not wear that though as Isaiah was fine with her not wearing it on this island. It contained enough nobles that he deemed it safe enough as it were. She was sure that he had a reason for coming here if only because they needed supplies and it was the closest island to get them from. She would rather not starve before reaching the next island especially since she had never really experienced the pangs of hunger.
Isaiah was almost too positive that they would be fine and then he proposed the idea that had been sitting well within his mind. There was no doubt that the nobles would soon realize she was on the island as a well known Shichibukai as safe as that could be. It put her out there but she could easily look like the late princess of an island that had been obliterated. No one really knew who her blonde knight was so he helped with the cover of that. The world knew her as Nova Duke but the people that were closest to her and well trusted knew her by her real name.
Just because they were on a island with nobles on it didn't mean they had to behave. To an extent she probably shouldn't be around them as to the reason she got offered her role of Shichibukai in the first place. They were merely just keeping tabs on her and she was doing the same on them so she could one day destroy them. The government couldn't really control the pirates that they allied themselves with and as if to make good example of that they crashed a party. It wasn't in the sense of barreling in and causing a ruckus.
Emmaline had more class than that especially since she was well aware of how parties were. She still had her hands on some dresses that she once used to wear to parties on her own island. It was probably risky to wear items from the island that didn't exist to anyone anymore. There had been exports and that was the way they could get away with this so easily. All they did was appear dressed in tip top shape and graced with white masks and had their fun.
It was moments like those that made her really appreciate Isaiah who was always by her side and knew when she needed a break. They had grown so attached to each other but not in the sense that people would think of. It was more in the sense that they were both survivors of their own island and that they were all each other had left. Some would say they were like lovers but they were quick to deny and say they were more like siblings. If they hadn't gotten so accustomed to each other's company then things wouldn't have progress as far as they had but they still had their moments.
The pair decided to take their leave from the party when they started to hear whispers and almost approached. It seemed that people were beginning to catch on and if they hadn't they surely would soon. There was word passing around that she was docked on the island and they took that as their cue to leave. Once they were both outside and away from being potentially caught, they started to laugh like they were little kids high on the adrenaline. They were in the clear until she found herself backing onto a main street and bumping into someone important. | WORDS: 732 NOTES: make due made by crescent |

[attr="class","surprise"] SERENDIPITY There was one thing that Miguel quickly realized as he searched for the girl using a completely random search pattern –not wandering aimlessly, as admirals do not do wandering aimlessly you see- around the town. He had been spoiled by the lack of attention in the ship.
In his ship, he was a common enough sight to not warrant such blatant and obtrusive staring unless it was from a new recruit that he had let on the ship after extensive background research. Here in Miqueot, he was practically a walking oddity –actually he was to the humans but he detested that label- with his towering height, white hair, gold eyes, and dark skin. While not nearly as tall as a giant, most of these people were like children compared to him even though around half of them were probably older than he was. It was getting irritating. He wished that he could ignore it, but his Mantra was as much of a blessing as it was a curse. He couldn’t afford to ever fully suppress it since he always had to be on guard –or so the Gorosei said, and he couldn’t blame them for the advice- and it is useful in locating people.
Speaking of locating people, he was tempted to expand his senses and simply home in on the strongest person there other than himself. After all, Faust had left the area and he was pretty sure that there were no other Shichibukai –or Nola forbid, Yonkou- around here so it would be so terribly easy to just do that. But that was the lazy way out. And Miguel was many things but he is not lazy. Lazy bums do not get to become admiral unless they had some awe-striking power or a wit that would challenge the gods themselves.
Or they could just be useful for the nobles and the World Government. You know how they are. His mind helpfully piped up.
Shut up. Great, now he was resorting to arguing with himself just to ignore these nosy people. The worst part was that he couldn’t even blame them either, since admirals usually spent their time on the Grand Line, not in any of the Blues. To be fair he wouldn’t even be here if it weren’t for that party that required all admirals to attend.
Just the thought of that party was enough to make him want to grit his teeth. No, no… he couldn’t grit his teeth out in public. He was supposed to be stoic. He was not supposed to be fuming at things the populace cannot see. That would cause a panic and that would be way too much trouble to deal with, though the look on his subordinates’ faces when they realize that their admiral is showing emotion beyond curiosity, indifference, and boredom would be such a treat to see.
But alas, a contract was a contract. Virtuous angels don’t get to play pranks at other people’s expense. They have to stay prim and proper according to the highest moral standards. They have to be so strong that people never doubt their faith. They have to be perfect.
Just the thought was enough to nearly make Miguel laugh. Or vomit. He didn’t know which yet. If only they knew. If only.
Suddenly, someone powerful entered the –reduced- range of his Haki, tearing away Miguel from his inner monologue. Two actually, with a reduced one at its side. Hm… could that be her?
Following the clue his Mantra gave him, Miguel abruptly changed directions and started to walk down another alleyway, causing the people gawking and whispering at his presence to become confused. Most of them began making up wild theories as to why the admiral suddenly changed direction without warning, ranging from the ridiculous to those that hit very close to the truth.
But Miguel didn’t bother to listen to any of that. The Shichibukai was more important than plebeian gossip. He now had a mission, so it was much easier to ignore them and the rambling his thoughts went into when he didn’t have anything to focus them on.
However, he misjudged their distance ever so slightly, which was why he almost didn’t see it coming when it bumped into him. Almost being the key word. He reacted fast enough to catch it by the shoulder, steadying her before it actually crashed into him. Or rather her, which he confirmed when he looked down and saw a decidedly feminine figure with pink hair.
”Not looking before you cross the street, Ms. Nova Duke?” There was a very miniscule hint of dryness in his tone to indicate that he was joking, but one would have to be looking for it to hear it. ”Not very vigilant of you. I expected better from one of the Shichibukai.”

It had certainly been fun while it lasted. That was the thought that entered her mind as she looked over her shoulder. She had been close to colliding with someone behind her when she backed out of the alleyway. The smile that had been on her face almost completely dropped when she realized that it was an admiral. She remembered it being mentioned that the party had been one that the admirals were invited to.
It wasn’t like her response was entirely necessary when the two of them hadn’t done anything wrong. There was also the fact that the admiral could have not been looking for them at all in the first place. She couldn’t really prove that running into him had been coincidence but it would definitely be hard to miss how they were dressed. The Shichibukai didn’t dress like that every day that much was certain since she typically could be found wearing shorts. One could even go as far as to say that it was iconic of her to wear shorts all the time especially even when she was on winter islands.
The fancy dress and her dolled up appearance would no doubt give away that Isaiah and her had crashed the party. In truth, they hadn’t committed any hard to those that were present at the party. They had merely danced and ate the food at the expense of the nobles. They had plenty of money to spare after all so there really was no harm done. She could easily get in trouble for it because she had been a danger to them once before. That wasn’t her fault that they were wimpy enough to be affected by her and the fact that she had been saving people. She was a revolutionary but her act hadn’t been viewed in such a manner but instead the opposite, thus she was labeled as a pirate and offered her current position.
Emmaline quickly regained her posture, however, and the smile that had once been on her face returned if only slightly. It was hard to smile so easily in the presence of an admiral despite his lack of participation in the buster call that ruined her life. Any dog of the marines received only the fakest of responses from the princess because she didn’t trust a single one of them. She was being scolded for not looking before crossing the street and told that more was to be expected of a Shichibukai. She was certain that it was a joke, maybe, as even if she carried that title that didn’t mean she was respected. She was still considered a pirate deep down by all the citizens that were watching the interaction between the three and so did the marines.
“Didn’t know a pirate was expected to follow the rules, admiral.” Emmaline quickly retorted putting special emphasis on the word pirate. “Just how much control does the government think they have over us. We never promised to be good examples.” | WORDS: 500 NOTES: sorry made by crescent |
