290 "I can't see my end...but I can see yours." It had been a week since Akuma had "joined" Miguel's crew. The demon had not only undergone training with the marines of the crew, but the Noroi had been returned to him. To control his bloodlust, which even he had to admit he was doing surprisingly well, he had made a regime for his daily routines aboard the ship. As allocated, he would complete tasks. Cleaning dishes in the ship's kitchen, swabbing the deck, helping adjust the sails, so on. Any free time he had would be spent training alone in one of the ship's empty rooms, or sharpening his blade. So far, things had been going well for him.
The only downside of his "second chance" was that, despite the confidence in their captain, it was only natural for many of the marines aboard to feel anxious around the demon they had let onto their ship so readily. Some believed nonsensical things. That he would devour their souls in the night or cut out their hearts. All of this was of course nonsense, but, having the cold, hard shell of stone befitting a half gargoyle, Akuma never even seemed to notice. In fact he had just began to assume that most marines were a jibbering mess, with the few rare exceptions such as Miguel and his closer officers.
As the day seemed to reach it's peak at midday, and the sun shined down over the North blue, Akuma was brought from his routine, sitting, sharpening his blade with a flat stone as an odd sound hit his ears. "Badubadubaubadubadubadubadubadubaubadubadu." He would soon come to know this as the sound of a den den mushi. CODED BY SYLVIE

[attr="class","surprise"] SERENDIPITY "Badubadubaubadubadubadubadubadubaubadubadu."
Miguel glanced at his wrist with a raised eyebrow. Apparently it wasn’t his baby Den Den Mushi that was making that racket while he tried to meditate. There were at least two other Den Den Mushi on the ship but which one was it coming from?
"Badubadubaubadubadubadubadubadubaubadubadu."
He was about to stretch out his senses to find out just which one it was when one of the sergeants serving aboard the ship ran to him with the ringing adult Den Den Mushi and its attached apparatus on the table. “It’s for you, sir.”
”Alright.” Miguel walked towards the Den Den Mushi and accepted the call. ”This is Admiral Gintaka. Who is calling and what is the nature of the call?”
The Den Den Mushi suddenly gained sunglasses and one hell of an afro. “This is agent Shinichi of the Cipher Pol, Admiral Gintaka. There is a target that the World Government wishes for you to personally capture and eliminate with extreme prejudice several nautical miles from your location.“
”Elaborate.”
The Den Den Mushi suddenly looked serious. “There is a dangerous pirate crew in that direction who are terrorizing one of the Tenryuubito’s villages. Their captain is a devil fruit user that uses the Ope Ope no Mi, which is a very dangerous fruit that allows the user to cut and rearrange body parts within a certain radius. Their first mate is a skilled Haki user, while the other crew members are average combatants. The two must be eliminated, but the others may be captured alive.”
”Understood. Expect them to be eliminated within the day.” Miguel replied crisply.
“As to be expected. 10-4, Admiral.” With that, the Den Den Mushi returned to normal.
Miguel waved the phone away and began to think over who could accompany him as back-up given the time-sensitive nature of the mission. He would need to be able to fly and keep his distance….
”Private Waru! Come over here.” Miguel called out.

000 "I can't see my end...but I can see yours." Shink...Shink...Shink...
With the deck surprisingly quiet, and the odd noise from earlier finally leaving his ears. It was a rather unusual tone and not one he had heard from any insects or animals from his old little abode on the island. He would not let his curiosity get the better of him though. It was, at least to him, a sign of his lack of restraint. He needed to stay focused on his blade, running the stone lightly across the sharpened edge and creating a finer edge as he handled it with care.
"Private Waru! Come over here!" Admiral Miguel? It wasn't time for him to get to work yet. Had he missed something when checking the food stores last night? Missed a spot while cleaning the sleep quarters? Whatever it was, he pulled himself up, back resting against the ship's master as he flexed out his wings, sheathing his blade and walking towards the angelic Admiral.
"Yes sir?" With his Noroi held by the scabbard, still having not found a belt to attatch it to, he stood before the angel. In the time he had been on the ship, he seemed to have calmed down a lot, and his emotions were nearly non-existant. CODED BY SYLVIE

[attr="class","surprise"] SERENDIPITY The boy was not saluting. Miguel made a note to himself to talk to the boy’s other XOs and Cos about this lapse when they came back. He’s got the controlled emotions down but he still needed to remember all of the regulations. Normally a lapse like this would merit push-ups, but since he’s only been on the ship for the week and he needed the boy in top form and not wheezing like an octogenarian asthmatic by the time he was done with both the punishment and the flight to the pirate ship.
He promised the boy that he would be able to control himself, after all. Not end up as a corpse due to the lack of foresight. That was just unprofessional and is more typical of Tenryuubito and pirates.
”Two things.” Miguel raised two fingers before lowering the first one.”Remember to salute next time whenever addressing or are being addressed by an officer, Private.”
Then he lowered the second one. ”Grab the rest of your gear. We’re going out on a mission, Private. Primary targets are to be executed while secondary targets are to be captured if possible. Understood?” Miguel's eyes were like his namesake's as he stared the small child down.

000 "I can't see my end...but I can see yours." Ah. The salute. Akuma was somewhat surprised he had forgotten such a simple custom, afterall it was known even by people who didn't sail the seas as he now did under Miguel's command. Hoping he could correct his mistake in some way, her pulled one arm behind her back holding his scabbard, the other giving a salute as it rested against the demon child's forehead.
"Yes sir." Lowering his hand he would listen to the second order to grab his gear. Glancing around, her wondered what the admiral had meant. He had the Noroi and the clothes he had been provided upon coming onto the ship, par his actual Marine uniform, were on his person. "I believe I already have everything you request...sir?" He held up his blade by the scabbard just to prove his point. He had already told Miguel personally that this was the only thing he needed with him. "If I may ask though. Why are you selecting me for this mission? I am sure there are far more trained units aboard your ship." CODED BY SYLVIE

[attr="class","surprise"] SERENDIPITY The boy was saluting now. That was much better.
If Miguel were a more cheerful fellow, he would’ve smiled at the boy correcting himself. Unfortunately he wasn’t the cheerful type in the least. Being forced to be the world’s bitch for over a decade would kill any sort of overly-joyful tendencies he might’ve had. In fact, it was a miracle that he wasn’t a bitter alcoholic –though his vow to not publicly indulge in any vice was a big factor in that- or a nihilistic cynic bent on making the world feel as empty as he would have felt.
Before his thoughts can go any further, he heard the private speak again. The questions were enough to have him shelve the thoughts to answer the boy’s questions.
”That’s all of your gear? Alright.” Miguel flexed his currently-miniaturized wings and made them grow to full size, his silver wings gleaming with an ethereal glow as the sun beams reflected off of their metallic feathers.
Gold eyes looked back to the young private as he finally decided to answer the boy’s second question. ”Taking to the skies is much faster than crossing the seas.” Not to mention that he would get a chance to check out the boy’s progress himself.
”Any more questions, private?” He added after a moment.

178 "I can't see my end...but I can see yours." Ah, a so it was his ability to fly that had landed him this mission. Bringing the sheathed Noroi to his side he would flex out his wings, the black membrane of the demonic appendages stretching out to their full potential behind him, readying himself for flight as he gave a single, strong flap, taking himself a few feet into the air and sustaining himself there. He thought for a moment of anything else he should ask, but he had only one question in truth.
"I ask you only show me which way to fly, and who I should aim for."
As soon as Miguel took flight, Akuma would fly quickly behind, keeping a close distance to the Admiral and keeping a tight grip on his blade. Even with the ship's supplies he refused to get a strap with which to carry it upon, instead he carried it in hand, always ready for use, especially for situations like the one before him now. [attr="class","surprise"] SERENDIPITY Gold eyes remained impassive even though the admiral was inwardly pleased. The new private was obedient and ready to fight in the name of justice even though this was his very first mission. If the dedication translated to his prowess, then he definitely made the right decision.
”Follow me, and make sure you keep close.” Miguel ordered as his massive wings flapped once and took flight with the demon child following behind him.
The reason for his order soon became apparent when their surroundings went completely dark for a few moments as Miguel sucked in all of the light in the immediate vicinity. The light then came rushing back in as he replaced the light he had stolen with his own, enabling him to manipulate it to his wishes. Then he did just that by making it so that the light would pass through him and his subordinate, leaving them completely and utterly invisible to most forms of vision. Only haki and his own eyes would be able to penetrate this particular technique because of how it was executed.
”Remember to keep your bearings about you.” Miguel muttered, mostly to warn the boy as only he could perceive their bodies right now, with the light he had conjured most likely fooling even his subordinate’s eyes.

000 "I can't see my end...but I can see yours." Akuma flew behind his new commander/Admiral, when the area around them suddenly turned to darkness, only to flow out once again. Akuma was unsure, but he did believe that Miguel himself was likely the cause. The truly alarming part was what came next. His body was washed over with an odd light only to vanish, even to his own eyes. Looking back to the angel, wanting answers, he would find he could not see him either.
"Yes sir." Ever quick to think of a solution, Akuma used the only senses that would aid him, a careful ear remained open for the movements of Miguel's wings, and the demon child would try to remain in his slipstream. Not only would this make it easier for him to keep up, but if he began to feel any resitance, he could easily tell that the angel had changed course. For the short journey he attempted to keep up, doing well not to move out of the slipstream too much, a ship coming into view on the horizon.

[attr="class","surprise"] SERENDIPITY Normally, it would have taken a while for Miguel to arrive at the place that the agent had designated as the target if he had taken the normal water route. It would have also been much easier to detect if they had gone the way of water than the way of air since even with his illusion abilities they would have let a visible trail that the pirates might spot.
Besides, they would be expecting an attack from the sea. Very few pirates ever expect attacks from the air because flight is a rare ability to have, whether it came from a person or from a vehicle. He had heard about the dangers of the Ope Ope no Mi in his travels as well as previous briefings and reports when he bothered to look at past case files.
”It is.” Miguel finally answered after a few moments. ”Do not engage until I have restrained the captain. Close combat is unwise with his ability. For now… simply observe. This is as much a demonstration as it is a mission.”
With that said, he used his powers to create a large, realistic trade ship while they were still too far to be detected by any other means than sight, something that he had already neutralized. Then he had it set sail towards the pirates to act as a distraction. He needed their attention away from them while he disposed of the captain and the first mate.
Given the realism of his bait, once the large ship had been seen in the sights of the pirates, they wasted no time in heading towards it in order to board and pillage it. The first part of his plans have been set in motion.

000 "I can't see my end...but I can see yours." Akume gave but a single nod at the words from the Admiral, not even sure if he was still nodding in the right direction. As the ship formed below them the demon child found it nearly alarming that such real illusions could be created by the odd power that had also made them invisible. Was it really an illusion though? It looked far too real...Even the pirate ship they flew towards seemed to take the bait, the ship soon turning off course towards the illusion.
With orders to hold back Akuma flew close to the ship, landing atop the match with his wings spread out beside him to keep his balance, a tight hand on the Noroi at his side. He was ready to strike at any moment, already counting a small number of the crew on deck. With Admiral Miguel still hidden, he could only wait under the orders of the angel, already considering how many of the crew below he could incapacitate without drawing his blade...
Still, if this captain they were after was especially dangerous it would be good for Akuma to at least gauge what he could do first....

[attr="class","surprise"] SERENDIPITY Miguel and his subordinate watched in silence as the pirates boarded the fake vessel. Though he could not hear what they were saying since they needed to be outside of the Haki user’s range just in case he had Mantra, the Admiral’s eyes were still sharp enough to be able to read their lips without any problems even at this distance. And really, it was just like watching those old silent films that the nobles liked to show off every once in a while.
“Hey boss… this ship looks real empty. Where’s the crew?” One of them asked after getting on board without any sort of resistance whatsoever.
The captain –and therefore his primary target- spoke up. “Who knows? For all we know, they coulda been spooked by our flag or something and abandoned ship way before we got here. This vessel didn’t look like it had any weapons worth a damn.”
“Boss, I don’t think that’s the case….” The first mate muttered as he looked around. “I don’t feel anything around, but… the entire set-up just feels wrong.”
“Bah!” The captain guffawed. “You worry too much! Even if this IS a trap, then we’ll just escape it with our great powers like we always do!”
“If you say so….” The first mate said dubiously as he began to inspect one of the rooms.
“I know so!” The captain laughed again and walked towards what looked like the captain’s quarters. He rapped his knuckles on the door and waved his free arm. “In fact-“
While invisible, Miguel’s eyes narrowed ever so slightly. Immediately, the light comprising the captain’s quarters and the room that the first mate was inspecting wrapped around their respective targets and kept them in place with a hold as tight as a vice while being harder than steel.
“WHAT THE HELL?!” The two of them said out loud, too flabbergasted by what looked like the rooms distorting and warping in a manner that wood and plaster was never supposed to react before they were engulfed and trapped by the light.
Miguel watched as the other crew members fell into a gibbering panic upon seeing what appeared to be the ship itself coming alive to attack and possibly devour them. With the captain and first mate neutralized, he could now allow the boy to dispatch the others. Less hassle for himself and more experience for the boy, so it was win-win for the both of them.
”Subdue the rest, Private Waru.” Miguel stated in a voice that only his subordinate could hear. ”Be wary though, because as soon as you fly a certain distance away from me, your invisibility will disappear.”

000 "I can't see my end...but I can see yours." Akuma watched curiously as the pirates boarded the fake ship. It was strange that it could take such a solid form, and the young demon wondered why such a power did not simply create everything this man needed. If it could fool a person standing on it, surely it must have been as good as the real thing? All he could do was believe that the angel had his reasons for not using it to create everything he desired. Perhaps he needed to keep a focus on whatever he created? Afterall, from what came next, it seemed that he could control such objects too. The ship's rooms would warp and capture the pirates within.
"I'll leave the captain for you." Spreading his wings wide, he slowly leaned forward, the wind flowing into the membrane of his appendages as he fell into a swift glide, angling himself to fly quickly towards the shocked and confused pirates as they ran back towards their ship. Just as one of them got close enough to climb back aboard, Akuma left the range of Miguel's light tricks, creating the horrific image of a demon appearing from thin air towards these men.
"AHH! WHAT IS THAT!?"
They would not have long to even scream, as with a somewhat satisfying thud, Akuma landed foot first on the closest thug's head, the other quickly catching the man beside them, pushing both down into the solid light that was the fake boat and bringing them to a skidding fall. The remaining 7 pirates now surrounded him, and with the Noroi in hand, he gave each of them a glare befitting his demonic nature. With a final check that the two he had landed on were indeed knocked out, probably absorbed by the fake ship, he readied himself, spreading his wings as the pirates unsheathed their blades.
"Who wishes to die first?"
"GET THE FREAK!"
Two pirates rushed in from the front and he was ready from the moment they took their first step, darting forward and between them, dropping to his knees and skidding between them, lifting his arms and blade up between their heads. With a quick seperation of his arms, the handle hit hard into the side of one thug's head, while the other took the hard point of his scabbard. With his increased strength, and the fact they were still in an intense state of panic, that brought them to a quick drop, and Akuma flicked around to stand up on his feet, his back to no one but unconscious and captured pirates. "Next?"
The pirates looked between themselves, one of them even seeming to gulp down their fears before the remaining five chose to strike at once. Sheathing his blade fulling again, the demon dashed towards them with a hard flap of his wings, taking a similar tactic with the first two, flying over head with a quick spin, the two felt the hard strike of his sheathe. The spin left him falling back to the ground in a roll, and one of the few remaining from the crew decided to take this as his chance, digging his blade into Akuma's shoulder, bringing out a grunt from the pain, which, given the large cut, was surprisingly tolerant. The bone of his wings slammed into the sides of his attacker's head, bringing him to a quick black out. The two left stared in slight awe, their captain was captured by the monstrous ship, and a demon had defeated their crew...
All they could do was watch as the demon, his shoulder drenched in his own blood, grew closer, unsheathing his blade, simply to get them shaking. CODED BY SYLVIE

[attr="class","surprise"] SERENDIPITY For some reason, the captain and first mate felt like death had descended upon them, the latter much more so with his respectable skill and knowledge in Haki. Both of them had simultaneously paled when they had seen the demon emerge from literally out of nowhere and start beating up on their other crew members like they were nothing but amateurs.
“Jeez, first this ship ends up being booby trapped and alive, and now a frickin’ demon is attacking us!” The captain groaned as he struggled against his prison, but to no avail. His devil fruit powers were useless if he couldn’t move his hands, so he was starting to panic.
“Going in here was your idea, you know.” His first mate pointed out with a dirty glare.
The captain scowled at his first mate. “Well how in the hell was I supposed to know that the ship is fucking alive and eats people and that there was a demon lurking around?! Who in the seven seas expects that?! Not even crazy Bob woulda thunk it!”
“You still should’ve listened, you crazy dolt.” The first mate sighed. “Now it’s up to me to save our asses from the frying pan again. Just wait a bit, will you? I’m going to break free from this trap then break you out so that we can even the odds.”
The feeling of complete and utter doom intensified, but the first mate ignored it as he used a substantial amount of Busoshoku haki to break himself free from his prison. Once he had broken free, his prison dissolved into nothingness. “Hah! That was easier than I thought it would be! Now-“
The first mate’s head was suddenly severed from his neck in a quick and bloody fashion, falling down onto the ground and rolling to the feet of the captain’s prison even as blood started to spurt out of the neck and the cut arteries, bathing the captain’s face and the deck blow in the fluid. Some of the blood stayed floating in the air, as if it was coating a large blade of some sort.
The captain started cursing and screaming. It had just gone from bad to worse. They were all going to die!
As if that weren’t enough, a large humanoid figure dressed in a high-ranking marine uniform suddenly emerged into existence, holding a bloody Guan Dao as he stared down impassively at the imprisoned captain, stunning said man into silence.
What the hell was going on?
”Tie them up securely once you are done.” Miguel ordered in his usual monotone without looking at Akuma. ”Then wake them up.”
“What the hell are you planning to do, you bastard?!” The captain screamed as he tilted his head as far as he could upwards in order to try and stare at the huge dark skinned humanoid.
Miguel remained silent and waited for Akuma to finish with his orders.

000 "I can't see my end...but I can see yours." So Miguel had decided to join the fray finally? Well with only two left, and the first mate's death instilling fear further into the two remaining pirates, they slowly backed away, likely wondering if they had a chance at running and setting sail, but, with a demon, and what appeared to be an admiral ready to take them down, they knew they had little to no chance of making it out of this.
"Would you care to surrender?" Akuma remained tall, or rather, as tall as his stout frame could be, his blade still drawn and hanging by his side. He refused to use the sharp side of the blade, but he was more than willing to use it for intimidation against these two. "I think we know what would be safer for you both." With a moment of silence, and an exchange of glances, the two pirates dropped their swords, lifting their arms up and bringing a sinister grin from the demon, something he had learned would earn a good reaction from anyone back on their own ship if he needed to intimidate them. "Good."
Grabbing some rope lying on the fake ship, he quickly gathered the two who remained awake, tying their hands together and forcing them to sit, looking at their captured captain.
