Rise of the Phoenix!

A shot ripped through her ponytail as she continued to run, pulling out one of her pistols and using the last shot she carried, firing it off at one of the armory's guards and clearing the path for them. Yumi didn't feel too good hearing that she would have to protect them while Vi set up the bomb...god she was not looking forward to this.

Hearing a shot ring out behind her she fell into a skid, sliding into the open armory and kicking up to her feat once the shot went overhead, slamming the door behind her and Violet, grabbing whatever was to hand, she shoved swords, canons, and other heavy equipment against the door, gasping desperately for breath as she looked around the room for a possible secondary entrance / exit as Var set up her bomb.

"Nothing..." Bangs and roars came from the blocked door as Yumi began to pace the room, wandering what she was to do to get them out of here, her mind racing at 100 miles per hour. She couldn't get Vi to make a plan, she was likely busy making the bomb by now..she just needed a mira-

"Holy shit..." 

Dashing for a shelf in the room, Yumi grabbed a glass case with bright red object sealed with in, almost like an apple, but scaly and with odd patterns. "They had a devil fruit!"

As var finally set up her explosives and came up beside her, looking for ammo herself, Yumi stared at the fruit, as if some small desire to eat it began to burn inside of her chest. Only by hearing Violet speak did she actually snap back to reality, holding up the glass case to the blue haired girl with a strange expression, as if she was still unsure what she was actually holding.

"T-this is a devil fruit! It's what makes shura use her powers! They probably kept it here for safety....probably wanted to sell it...."

She gazed at the fruit for a moment, thinking about what they could do if they somehow escaped with this fruit in hand..."If we had this...we could sell it and never have to worry about money again...then again..."

She looked to the door, the bangs on the door getting louder as her blockade began to fail. "If we can't get out of here that doesn't matter..."

Swallowing any regrets she had any other way, she through the casing against the stone wall, the shards of glass spraying out along the floor, and the blue fruit landing in the midst of it. With no time to lose, she reached over, picking up and devouring as much of the fruit as she could, nearly choking from the oddly spicy taste. She hoped to get some sort of sign of what it did straight away, but as the rest of the fruit shriveled and died, she just stood there, feeling no different.

"W...was it...fake?"

Yumi's whole world turned black, just for a moment, before her vision slowly returned. She couldn't hear a thing. All she knew is that the door had burst open, and shrapnel from her blockade had fire in all directions...there was a shooting pain in her forehead. As some of the pirates could be seen in the now open door way, staring at her, she could only think to bring her hands to her head...was she shot, had something got her...? She felt something warm at her forehead. Maybe she was bleeding? How was she even alive!? She'd be hyperventilating if her whole body hadn't gone even deeper into shock.

"I...what...?" Little did she know the warm feeling atop her head was a blue flame, that slowly seemed the heal the hole in her head, the pain soon dissapearing. The pirates, equally confused, stared at her in disbelief, until one spotted the shriveled up fruit.

"SHE ATE IT! GET HER!"

The pirates charged in. Whatever was happening had something to do with the fruit, Yumi just learned that much, getting up on her feet, she pulled Violet behind her. Maybe it was instinct, or some sixth sense given by the fruit, bit she just had the urge to throw her hand forward. The blue flames upon her head, through with healing her, vanished into tiny embers as a burning, much more destructive red flame shot and spiralled from her palm, forcing the Pirates back out, some of them catching on fire as the rest backed away, more than a little scared. "W...what..." Trying to get a hold of herself she rushed for the door, slamming it shut and keeping it that way to by them time. "WHAT THE HELL DID I JUST DO!?"

She wasn't sure if she was ecstatic, or terrified! 

Yumi couldn't even fully grasp what Vi was saying to her. Just as she thought she got a hold of what was going on, a bunch of ideas flooded into her head. Did devil fruit always do this? Come with some sort of inbuilt instinct on how to use it's base powers? It was kinda ridiculous if that was the case, yet still, here she was, feeling like she could produce fire, heal herself and...

Grow wings!?

Her eyes darted to Vi as that idea hit her head. The bluenette was already making the final preperations and they had to move, no matter what. Yumi wanted to reload her guns should the devil fruit not be enough to get them through the pirates, but with the fuse lit, she didn't have time.

"Okay...here goes nothing..."

Yumi jumped from the door, turning to face it and taking a strong stance. Her face seemed strained, all a mixture of confusion, frustration, and focus, trying to use her power...it felt like pulling a lever in her head, she just had to find it. As the pirates sounded like they were about to take a run up, Yumi's body burned with bright blue flames, her body enveloped entirely by the fire. With a sudden light, her shirt burned off, leaving her in her bikini top, feathers visibly sprouting over her body through the flames. They ran down her right arm, and with a sudden jolt, her hand turned into a large set of talons, again down the left the same occurred, both of her hands becoming a destructive set of talons. With her legs soon joining in, her boots burst into the same flames, talons shooting out as soon as they were burned out of their constraints. 

Finally, the feathers made their way up her face, her ponytail practically turning to fire itself as it swayed behind her, a jolt of her neck bringing forth a beak where her mouth should be. She had to admit, it was just a tad painful, but what came next seemed to be the big finally, as two large wings sprouted from her back, leaving her in her new, half avian form, embers trailing off of her, panting a little as the Pirates footsteps marked their charge.

"Alright...let's see what this can do!~"

Suddenly empowered by the control of her new power, her right hand soaked itself in flames as the other thrust the door open, making room for the turrent of flames she would shoot out into the hall, knocking the charging pirates off their feet. One was left standing, and before her could escape to warn the others, a strong, and somewhat clumsy flap of her wings forced Yumi forward, moving extremely fast as she pushed the wind behind her, gripping hard around the survivors head with her talons and slamming him into the floor. She wanted to celebrate, she really did...

Buuuuuut they were kinda against the clock. Hoping Violet wasn't freaking out at this point, she spoke, surprising well despite her beak. "L-let's move!"
