310 "I can't see my end...but I can see yours." On an island in the north blue, rumors had begun to rise about a group of demons who had decided to make it home. Travellers of the sea would return home, telling huge tales of a grand beast with wings as dark as night, carrying a blade of giants...all exaggerations...though close to the truth.
The island was indeed home to a demon of sorts, but only one, and not even a true demon at that. Though he had long lost the ability to recall his name, the half breed was known as Akuma. He did not hold a sword of giants, but instead, an ordinary Odachi, of perhaps longer than average length. The truth lay in his wings. Used to traverse the skies and forests of his home this demonic creature was part of an endless hunt. Those who entered the forest would note the bones that littered the beach, left as a warning in the brief moments of sanity that the boy had. Each bone was strategically picked clean, not even a single string of muscle fibre was spared.
Deeper into the island, one would find a dense forest with pools of water littered about. Cuts and slashes would mark the trees, some would even be toppled over with near perfectly clean cuts through their remaining stumps. The boy wanted to be alone. He wanted to instill fear. How foolish he was. In the golden age of pirates all he did was attract rumors and more visitors, people who would scream and run home telling of a tale of a demon who hate half their crew, when in fact, since his arrival on the island, he had not hurt a single human...
Perhaps these tales would draw another visitor today. Perhaps. CODED BY SYLVIE

[attr="class","surprise"] SERENDIPITY Normally, admirals would not be sent on scouting missions to unknown places unless it was a new island on the latter half on the Grand Line. It was simply too mundane for one of the three most powerful men in the Marines to handle. They usually had more important things to do rather than check on some uninhabited islands on the Blues.
However, one of the less irritating nobles –and those were a rare breed- had asked him to check on the island after rumors of demons inhabiting it started popping up. He had already sent a platoon to scout for him and hopefully deal with the problem without the need for his interference, only for them to return, blubbering about psychotic demons and pure evil while looking like they were put through the wringer.
Since he was supposedly an angel and therefore the supposed natural enemy of demons, he pretty much had no choice left but to investigate it personally. That was why he and a small contingent of his most loyal and reliable marines were now beginning to enter the forest of the island that was the subject of all of the rumors.
”Men. Be on your guard.” Miguel ordered as he looked around. ”Standard procedure applies. Delta formation.”
“Sir yes sir!” With that, the group arranged themselves to form a triangular formation with Miguel at point. You can never be too careful with this sort of thing after all.
Demon or not, one way or another he was going to deal with this within a day and then relax. There was almost nothing in the Blues worth his full effort and he didn’t expect this one to need it. If it did… well he would have a fun time explaining to the brass about the apparent demon invasion that started in the island, now wouldn’t he?

TAGS 286 "I can't see my end...but I can see yours." So the initial warnings were not enough. The bones of the beach were simply crunched underfoot by the small group of marines charging up the island and into the forest. Though the shadows of the forest hid him well, those who looked up as they made their way inland may somtimes find a small glimmer of red as dark, deep, malicious eyes peering down, before instantly vanishing into the darkness with the faint rustle of leaves.
These people had entered the forest of the demon. They were the demon's prey.
With no desire to kill a human despite the bloodlust burning through every fiber of his body. He eyed their leader from a safe branch. He was tall, dark, and shared the silver locks the half breed had spawning from his head. He appeared to be strong. Too strong to instill fear into with a simple swoop. Akuma would have to begin slow, but act fast. He could not suppress his urges for long. Looking to the back of the group, he found the most shaky of the men, and begun.
With a quick push and the spreading of his wings, he dove in from the front, flying above the group and reaching out a hand, aiming straight for a specific member of the group, a hand reaching out, gripping his shirt, and flying him deep into the darkness of the forest, releasing him high in the trees with enough time to scream and a safe branch to lay on. With a glare that nearly ordered him to "keep quiet", he flew off back to the main group, gauging their reaction. To them, it would have appeared as if a red eyed beast of darkness had stolen one of their number. NOTES Took one of your troops deeper into the forest. Placed him down safe. CODED BY SYLVIE

[attr="class","surprise"] SERENDIPITY “WAAGH!”
The Marines behind the tall admiral all jolted and started to panic when they saw one of their own suddenly snatched out from their midst by a black winged figure with red eyes. They had never seen anything of the sort and given that there was an angel in their midst the possibility of that being an actual demon was suddenly very really.
However, there was one person who wasn’t panicking. In fact, he wasn’t even surprised in the least. The admiral himself, who simply raised a hand to calm his men and keep them quiet before turning his golden gaze towards the foliage, seemingly looking for the beast that had kidnapped his soldier. He could practically taste the bloodlust that the creature was radiating, which had alerted him to the creature’s presence the instant it had entered the range of his Mantra. In fact, he knew exactly where it was.
Strangely, despite the bloodlust there was hesitance in there as well. That was the only reason the creature was still alive after it dared to kidnap one of his men. He wanted to confirm what it was and see what its game plan was before proceeding with any course of action, so he was going to play along with the demon’s little game… for now.
”Positions.” Miguel said as he lowered his arm after a few moments. ”Attack if you are caught. Do not show mercy.” |

398 "I can't see my end...but I can see yours." With his eyes once more on the group, it seemed their panic had been quickly controlled by their leader...he knew this man would be the issue. If he could not make this man feel fear he would ensure his crew would feel too much for him to control. Wings spreading wide as he stood on a branch they were soon the pass under. His demonic frame would be highlighted in a dark shadow, creating a red eyed figure of darkness to any who dared look up.
With little hesitation. He dropped.
Landing in the center of the group, those not panicking may focus enough to take in the human features of his form. Though coated in varying trails of dried up blood, his frame was young, short, human, and strong. Having long since torn his shirt to shreds he wore only his blood stained pants, which were also quite worn. Flaring out his wings he tried to create a small gap for himself in the group, locking eyes with one of the marines. He darted forward, ducking under the swipe of his sword and standing behind him, hitting him in the back of the neck with his sheathed blade, knocking him out. With no remorse or hesitation in his actions, the only sign of restraint was the fact his blade was not unsheathed.
"LEAVE" With a dark hissing tone to his voice, the restrained bloodlust was even more present. The marines had him surrounded and one was brave enough to follow orders and attack first. Screeching out, a slash was made down his back between his wings. The Screech seemed to be more in anger though, as his strong skin made sure that the average blade left only a scratch, turning quickly and knocking his assailant out with a sheathed blade strike across the jaw.
Oh no...
As the Marine fell, blood spat out from his mouth and not only did Akuma see it, but the thick scent burned into his nostrils. Seeming to show fear for the briefest of moments, he spread his wings, darting back into the forest as fast as he could, taking his sword while covering his mouth and nose. NOTES Jumped into group. [attr="class","surprise"] SERENDIPITY Some things became apparent to Miguel as soon as the creature landed in the middle of formation. One, the demon was a shirtless kid with white hair, red eyes, and black scaly bat-like wings. Two, his men needed more training if they actually missed such a slow and easy target while it was in the middle of them and were actually knocked out. So much for reliable.
Instead of attacking the demon child though, the admiral simply stepped back and observed how the small group he had assembled dealt with the threat. It was obvious that they were not as hardened and as disciplined as his normal hunting group, and it showed. The only thing more obvious to his experienced eye was that the demon was showing restraint for some reason as it was using a sheathed blade in order to only knock out his men.
However, something strange happened. The creature panicked and fled when one of his men coughed out blood. He scowled.
”Stay here.” Miguel ordered as he removed his justice coat and tossed it to two of his marines, revealing two small silver wings on his back. ”We will discuss the slacking you have all apparently been doing with your training when I get back. That was terrible, gentlemen.”
They were forced to step back as the silver wings expanded to their full size, turning from small, almost comic wings to the grand and statuesque wings described in the legends, being far larger than even the demon’s beastly wings. Still, they knew better than to let shock steal away their voices again or they would be really in for it once they got back on the ship.
“Yes sir!” They were then subjected to a powerful gust of wind as Miguel took off in chase of the demon with a speed that did not look like it belonged on his massive frame.
It was easy enough for him to home in on the creature with the virtual maelstrom of emotions it was constantly emitting. Curiously enough, distress was in there, which generally wasn’t supposed to be mixed in with bloodlust. This case was getting weirder and weirder by the minute.

307 "I can't see my end...but I can see yours." Need to get away...forget the scent forget the scent FORGETTHESCENT!
It was futile. The scent of human blood was in his system once more and his lust for it only grew. Even as he fled his eyes darted back to where he had come from, wondering if he should go back...would killing one be so bad? Two wouldn't be missed...perhaps a third at a push...NO! He could not think like this! He needed to find a source of food. Something to tear at, rip up, release this pent up desire he...wait. What IS that?
With another one of his longing glances, Akuma had caught the sight of the sight of the winged creature chasing behind him. With closer inspection, it was easy to see that this was in fact the leader of the group he had been trying to instill fear in. No wonder he wasn't afraid. He wasn't human himself.
"Trust human's to send an angel after a demon!" His demonic tongue would hiss, nearly growling as he spun around mid flight, glaring back at his pursuer. He wanted still to scare him off. Even no his hand grabbed for the handle of his blade, twitching, eager, and at the same time, resistant to pulling it out. With a quick flap of his wings he's stop, letting out a gust of wind that would intimidate the ordinary pursuer as his red eyes seemed to shine through the brown, dried blood covering his skin, glaring straight at the "angel" "LEAVE! I promise you..." The twitch in his hand was far more visible, and his tone seemed less resistant, the scent locked in his memory was slowly getting to him. "No one...will die....if you leave...NOW!" [attr="class","surprise"] SERENDIPITY “Trust humans to send an angel after a demon!”
Miguel was amused when the demon child turned around mid-flight to glare at him, complete with theatrics that ruffled his hair. He was sure that a lesser man would have backed down at the sight of a manic demon covered in dried blood looking like he was about to kill him, but Miguel was an admiral. He had faced much worse things down over the course of his career, and some fledgling demon didn’t even make his top 100 list.
He was even more amused when the demon had the audacity to ask him to leave, though his face remained as expressionless as a rock. As if he was allowing anyone but the Gorosei and the World Government to order him around!
”How presumptuous, child.” Miguel stared the demon down with an icy, dispassionate stare as he remained aloft, having stopped the moment when the child did so. ”This island belongs to no one according to the records. You have no right to ask us to leave.”
His tone became cold as he pulled out his guan dao from his back and held it with a single hand. ”Desist your actions now and you will be shown mercy. Follow through with the threat and I will be forced to use force against you. Choose wisely, child.” He already knew what the other one’s course of action would be, but formalities were formalities and the perfect soldier always followed formalities.

000 "I can't see my end...but I can see yours." So, he wouldn't back down...Akuma was hardly surprised, bit his form seemed to visibly shake, his two halves battle for a moment before calming, the shine of his eyes seeming to emit a brighter shine as his wings hung around him for a brief moment, enveloping his form in shadow.
"A monster does not own a cave...but he has the right to call it his own!"
His hand slowly pulled the blade of his weapon out, not seeming to shake, but in fact baring his fangs as he slowly gave into his desires. It wasn't going to be human, but surely angel blood tasted just as sweet. The faint hum of his blade grinding against the inside of his scabbard was almost music to his ears, gazing deep into the eyes of his opponent with almost...well....quite literally, demonic levels of lust. His wings flared our, ready to strike as his form hung in the air, his weapon a quarter drawn...
NO!
With one quick motion, the blade was sheathed with an echoing clash of metal, flying towards the angel faster than he had seen yet, a hand gripped around the handle, another around the scabbard, trying to strike with enough precision and force across the head to take him out as easily as he had the marines. He just wanted to get them away from her before he had to give in to it. NOTES Struck with sheathed blade again. CODED BY SYLVIE

[attr="class","surprise"] SERENDIPITY As expected, the demon child started to attack. However, Miguel mentally frowned when his Mantra gave him a vision of the child hesitating to draw his sword and then trying attack him with the sheathed blade instead.
That was odd. What was stopping the child from acting out on his lust for blood? All he could sense was the inner turmoil stopping him but what he wanted to know was the reason for said turmoil. It had to be important if it stopped a demon of all things from acting out on its natural instincts.
Miguel mulled that over as he absently leaned his head back to dodge the vicious-looking strike from the sheathed blade. Simultaneously, his fist lashed out to strike at the boy’s chest with enough force to leave a deep hole in a boulder while he was still hopefully suffering through the effects of his wild follow-through. Given how long his arms were, it would take even less time to do normally to reach the boy’s chest due to his superior reach. It would take prediction of his moves or supreme reflexes to be able to dodge that blow.
But whether or not the fist hit, he would follow it up with a vicious knee to where he could see the boy was going to move next thanks to another vision from his Mantra. ”Not going to desist? You have been warned, demon. Prepare to face the consequences.”

419 "I can't see my end...but I can see yours." For a brief moment, Akuma's vision turned black. The sheer shock of such a strong impact and the speed with which it was delivered nearly knocked him out of the sky, His body keeled over, his weapon still held tight by the scabbard while the other hand seemed to reach for his chest, gasping in pain. What was this!? He had hardly felt any pain in his life thanks to his heritage, what was this man doing to him!?
Regardless, now so close to his opponent, the scratches already prominent on his chest may be noted. All focused on his heart turning the flesh a worn pink as it had tried to heal and scarred. His eyes flashed red, as if to counter, but a quick knee to the underside of his jaw seemed to end that plan, feeling his body pushed higher into the air as it followed his jaw. He could take a rough guess that any human's jaw would be broken by that attack.
I can't beat him like this...he dosn't fear me...I...I have to make the others flee...
His eyes flashed down to his opponent once more, a soft growl escaping him.
One life...that's all...
In an instant, with a quick flap, distance was placed between the angel and the demon, and with a sound of metal grinding against metal, before cutting through the air, the impressive Odachi was draw. This was it. Hanging in the air with killer intent, at least for this one man, he had given up hope of controlling himself. One life would instill enough fear to keep people away for months, if not years.
"SO BE IT" Flying in with extreme speed once more, much faster than before, the boy showed no hesitation, no resistance, despite the continuation of his inner turmoil he truly seemed to believe that killing this man was what he must do. He believed it was the right thing to do for the greater good. His sword flashed out with quick strikes in rapid succession with seemingly no aim other than to make some sort of mark on his opponent, perhaps tear him apart if her were to get luckily. His wings rapidly adjusted to his positions as strike after strike was made. It was an impressive feat to any human that he could maintain such speed with such a large weapon wielded in only one hand. CODED BY SYLVIE

[attr="class","surprise"] SERENDIPITY So the demon child finally made up his mind. It still doesn’t change things.
Golden eyes stared down the white haired demon child with an indifferent calmness that contrasted the crazed, murderous look the boy had in his red irises. It was like facing down a wild animal back in the forests of his homeland again, only this one was armed with a weapon and actually had some semblance of sentience. And like with a wild animal, there were only two ways to deal with them once they’re in this state.
Subdue them or put them down permanently. Marine code dictated that he always tried for the first unless they were considered as kill-on-sight by the top brass, so a severe beating will do to discipline this unruly demon child.
Still, Miguel couldn’t help but be slightly impressed when the boy attacked him again. Though he could read the boy like an open book even without his Mantra, he noticed that making up his mind made his movements sharper and faster than before. Not nearly enough to make a difference in fighting him, but enough to put on a good show while he danced around the smaller one’s moves with a graceful, practiced ease.
He waited for the moment he had seen with his sight where one of the boy’s swings became really wild before he lashed out with a very fast kick to the demon’s side with enough for to split a boulder in two while said demon was still going on the follow-through of that particular strike. If it hit, the force of his kick along with the demon’s own follow-through should send him right into a tree. If he somehow missed or the demon found a way to block, then he would follow up with a massive haymaker to the boy’s head while he was distracted with his foot, and with a fist as big as the boy’s head and his natural strength he expected it to knock the boy out or at least give him one hell of a concussion.

290 "I can't see my end...but I can see yours." With seemingly little control left over himself Akuma's only instinct was to cut, cut and then cut some more. Every single one of his swings had killer intent behind it. He just wanted this one kill and then everything would be okay...IF ONLY HE'D STOP DODGING! Demons below how was he managing this? Angel or no surely it was impossible to trace every single movement of your opponent like this? Nevertheless it would not stop Akuma. With adjustments of his wings he'd try for different angles, new strikes, whatever it took to get a single attack in.
"I. JUST. WANT. YOU. TO. LEAVE!"
Swooping around the angel, he'd try to cut his wings, but just the idea of trying seemed to make the angel prepare to counter. This time, Akuma seemed to notice, and with a hard flap of his wings he flew above the kick. With the sheer noise it made as it swiped through the air told the demon that would have broken even his bones. Still, he was safe from it, lifting his Odachi above his head he went in for another str-
CRUNCH
Once again Akuma's world went back as he felt the wind flow around him as he hurtled towards the floor, smashing through a tree trunk with an intense sense of pain in his face and in his back, his wings falling around him as he skidded along the dirt. He wanted to get up...just move...something! Alas, his body refused everything, and just as he found himself about to get up, he fell, his mind falling into darkness as he was truly knocked down, and out. CODED BY SYLVIE

[attr="class","surprise"] SERENDIPITY There was something utterly satisfying about having one’s fish smash through a demon’s face after it dodged his first kick. It was even more satisfying than smashing in an ordinary pirate’s face in after they failed to follow his instructions, which was typical pirate protocol all things considered. But even he could admit that it wasn’t as satisfying as seeing his opponent crash through a tree and onto the ground and be unable to get up.
Miguel supposed that people would be surprised if they were ever privy to the thoughts that actually went on behind his stoic façade. For him though it was entirely natural since he was born and bred a warrior. Plus people would probably give him some slack since this was a demon he was beating on. Of course, mind-reading was extremely unlikely to ever occur so he didn’t have to think about that possibility.
”Looks like you were the one who left the building.” Miguel let himself say out loud. There was no one to hear it, so he was in the clear. ”I wonder if there are any others around here. They did say there was more than one….”
As he mulled over those thoughts, he fell back to the ground gracefully. He then picked up the unconscious form of the demon and slung the form over his shoulder before taking flight once again, this time to head back to where he had left the rest of his men.
“Admiral Gintaka! You’re back! And you’ve captured the demon, sir! We never doubted you, sir!”
Miguel was greeted with the sight of all of his marines standing at attention and saluting him as he landed on the ground in front of them with his prey slung over his shoulder like he was a trophy Sky shark.
”There was never any doubt, Sergeant.” He answered primly as he walked over to his men and handed the demon child over them with one hand. ”Secure the creature with chains, shackles, and whatever that priest on board thinks is necessary to restrain this beast. Keep him locked in the brig until I come back.”
“Yes sir!” The marines chorused as they took the unconscious boy from the admiral and began to wrap him around in the chains and restraints they bought along with them. You can never be too prepared.
Gold eyes then turned their attention towards two of the marines in the squad, a young humanoid wolf and a human. ”You two, with me. We are going to do a perimeter search of the entire island to see if there are any more like him who need to be subdued and captured while the rest of you will bring back that one and keep a close eye on him. Understood?”
“Sir yes sir!” The two saluted again before going over to the admiral and taking their positions behind him. Then as the other marines left with the demon boy, Miguel and the two marines he had been left with began a perimeter search of the entire island for more threats.

339 "I can't see my end...but I can see yours." "Ugh..."
He could feel himself being lifted, but his mind could grasp little else. The rustling of the grass beneath his carrier was completely silent to his ears, and the chatter of those around him was like a gentle murmur. His body was passed along, and the sharp rattling of chains made it to his ears, his body felt constricted, not that he could move it anyway. Before long, it all went dark again, and an unknowable number of hours had likely passed before he woke once more, his vision blurred and unfocused as he tried to gather his surroundings. All he could really take in was the color. Brown...to light to be the forest he had been calling home though.
"That...that angel I..." His fingers tightened, as if to grab for something but realizing nothing was in his palm. In an instant his vision seemed to focus, his eyes growing wide. "NOROI!"
The marines outside his room may have jolted slightly as they heard him shout out, forcing his body to move to his feet, only to feel resistance from every direction. His eyes looked down, his hands bound by shackles covered in odd flaps of paper. The purpose of the paper was lost on him, the shackles were strong enough to keep him...his torso and his arms were wrapped in chains that seemed to attach to the wall behind him, his wings forced to stay inside of them as he tried to flare them out, wanting to break out. "GAGH!" Nothing, it was useless. His eyes darted around the room looking for hope, nothing. There was no way out of this...as time passed, he calmed himself. In his knocked out state the bloodlust had left him and he seemed somewhat human once more, falling to his backside and catching his breath. He wondered where he was...what had been done with his blade...Why was he not dead? CODED BY SYLVIE
