351 "A sailer whent to sea sea sea to see what she could see see see!" "What will we do with a drunken sailor? What will we do with a drunken sailor? What will we do with a drunken sailor...?"
Another day on the open sea and Yumi was loving every last second of it. Ever since she had found her way to Shell town by sheer luck she had been captain of this impressive cavaler ship of which she now rested in the crows nest, her back resting against the railing wood as she looked out onto the blue sky above and the deeper blue of the sea below, singing sea shanties to her hearts content, flinging her arms up as she reached the finale of her song.
"EARLY IN THE MOOOORNIN!~"
Sure she was probably annoying the hell out of her crew below but she was still doing the job she had assigned herself. She and Sela, her new navigator, had realized that even small time pirates like themselves may have someone after them. Every time she reached the end of one of her lines she'd have a quick peek through her spyglass, making sure their were no ships for a fair while, or at least none that may pose a threat to them. Once her checks were done, she'd begin humming her tune once more, only interupted by the growling of her stomache.
"Oi...knew I shoulda stayed at that tavern a while longer."
Peeking over the edge of the crows nest, she had a quick glance at the deck below. Most likely Sela had them on the right course for another place to explore and stock up so she had no worries, she was more so looking for Shura, the giant of a woman who had helped her procure this ship back at Shell town. She had been a back hand back then, and hopefully would be a big hand in the future, she was first mate for a reason afterall. "Yo! Shura! You buy any apples at that last town I'm starvin'!" A particularly tall woman lay against the main mast, sitting down on the deck. The day was sunny and bright, though the warm temperature was accompanied by a cool breeze. The waves gently rocked the boat back and forth in a rhythmic manner. All in all, the day was peaceful. There was nothing to worry about - nothing that needed taking care of, anyway, so the First Mate decided she would spend the day enjoying herself.
It just so happened that enjoying herself involved a barrel of rum.
Reclining against the main mast, the large woman with the bandaged head raised the barrel and drank directly from it, gulping down mouthfuls of rum. Some of it spilled past her lips, but as she set the barrel back down she let out a satisfied sigh and wiped her lips. Keeping a strong hand on the barrel, ensuring it didn't fall over from the rocking of the boat, she leaned back and shut her eyes.
The part-giant woman was strangely peaceful when she had something to drink. Quite often the young woman exuded a sort of threatening aura. She naturally generated a kind of tense atmosphere that left most people unsure whether or not they were safe staying within her presence for any amount of time. And certainly, with the number of brawls the young woman had gotten herself into, it was a justified fear. The bandaged gash on her head certainly didn't help matters.
Of course, Shura's satisfaction depended quite often upon people not bothering her too much. While she was surprisingly good at holding herself back, that didn't necessarily mean she particularly enjoyed being bothered while she was enjoying herself. Couple that with her natural dislike of her own crewmates (On principle of being, well, people) and you got a square peg struggling to fit into a round hole whenever someone called her.
"Spent it on booze," she remarked calmly, as if it were the most obvious thing in the world. She hadn't completely wasted all of the money she'd been given on booze, of course, but more than its fair share had gone towards what she called "Shura's Alcohol Fund", a very important charity that helped to keep irritating people alive by satisfying Shura's base desires.
As one could tell, she could care less of the others' opinions on that matter.

MADE BY ★MEULK OF GS | Leaning against the steering wheel Sela kept humming to herself caught up in the sheer endless line of shanties that resounded from the crow's nest above, while her hazel spheres carefully traced the few innocent structures roaming the flawless azure above. Fortunately the sea was calm and the area hardly possessed any currents that were capable of bringing them off their course. It really was a calm and pleasant day, one that differed greatly from the chaotic times she had experienced the day before when she by chance met Yumi in Syrup Village. Who would have thought that she would manage to find new friends this quickly? Sure, it was a rather unorthodox encounter, but the honey haired navigator was more than happy to be capable of continueing her journey together with other adventurers. Arriving at the Gecko Archipelago she had wondered what kind of people she would end up with, since she had been in need of a ride in order to move on.
She lost track of her train of thoughts the moment the chain of shanties, which had lasted for several hours without a single disruption, suddenly came to an end as the female captain shouted down from her post, apparently longing for something to eat. Hearing her speak about food almost instantly awoke her stomach, which hadn't received any food ever since she had set a foot into Syrup Village. Directing her gaze at the raven topped female that partially descended from giants, Sela couldn't help but sigh as she once again saw the tall female embracing a barrel filled with alcohol. Gazing at her with passionate and longing spheres, hoping to be capable of filling her stomach, the blonde almost dropped to the floor when Shura's voice echoed across the vessel, informing the other women that she had spent the money on booze instead of food. The flaxen haired navigator could understand that her latest acquaintance had a fondness for alcohol, but her roaring stomach right now prevented her from comprehending how someone could go as far as to indulge in one's passion for such drinks instead of buying food.
Leaving the motionless steering wheel alone, she slowly approached the drinking giant, only to stop her motions right in front of the inky topped individual. Using her left index finger in order to push her hat upwards, she tried to make eye contact with the giant girl, throwing an impish smile at her. "Now that you got your share of booze, how about taking a break and making something to eat?" Gazing at her counterpart she put her arms akimbo, before then once again raising her voice, speaking loud enough for Yumi to hear her. "Yumi? Don't you agree that Shura should stop drinking once in a while and make something to eat instead?" Definitely not wanting to enter the galley herself, Sela remained motionless, waiting for a reaction. |

000 "A sailer whent to sea sea sea to see what she could see see see!" Yumi couldn't help but groan as Shura confirmed the fears she had last time they hit shore. Why on earth did she ever trust Shura to buy the food? Sure at the time it was the most simple thing they needed, but then again, it was also the most essential. Shura was likely smart enough to have gotten something, anything to keep them going hungry, but Yumi had also asked her SPECIFICALLY to get apples, her favorite food! Why couldn't she have apples, sing for the crew, and sail on the open seas!? It was all she needed to make her dream complete.
"Whatever Shura. You just enjoy your drink and hope you don't get so tipsy you walk overboard." She rolled her eyes, about to lean back on the nest again when she spotted the blonde navigator making her way down to the mast beneath her. Naturally curious as to why she was leaving her post, the red head leant back over the guard of the crow's nest once more, arms folded beneath her curiously glancing down. And then it happened. The one thing you should never do on the deck of Yumi's crew.
Sela told Shura to stop drinking.
"Holy crud she is gonna punch her face in..." Muttering too quietly to be heard below, Yumi glanced around the nest, spotting a rope she'd tied up specifically for an easy decent, hoping over the rail with practiced movements and falling down safely as the rope slowed her descent, grinning nervously between her crew mates as she stood beside the two. "Hey we don't need her to get a punishment or anything, we're all friends on board." She let out a nervous chuckle, gently taking Sela's hand and guiding her away as she spoke, talking to her quietly so Shura wouldn't hear. "You do not take the booze from the beast."
With that, she thought it best to get moving to the kitchen, check the store room and see if they actually had anything worth cooking, or if she should just throw some oranges on a plate and call it lunch. Pushing the door open she'd turn with a final wave. "Don't you guys worry! Dinner's all me!~" God's please don't let them kill eachother...aw who am I kidding only Sela dies there. CODED BY SYLVIE

Distracted by her own thirst for booze, Shura ignored her Captain's remark and carried on drinking, lifting the barrel again to down more rum. As far as she was concerned, they still had enough food to make it to another island. She'd done as much as she really needed to for them. Besides, she'd already made things crystal clear to the Captain - whatever she may have felt, they were most certainly not friends.
Of course, it seemed that no one had thought to tell the Navigator about this arrangement. As soon as the part-giant woman set her barrel down, she found herself being stared in the eyes by the blonde. If she remembered correctly, the girl's name was Sela. In any case, it seemed that the Navigator took issue with Shura's approach to how to spend their money and had decided to rectify the situation by giving orders. Naturally, Shura couldn't help but laugh.
"Me? Do the cooking?" she questioned the girl as she rose to her full height of seven feet. The blonde barely even reached her chest in height. Staring down at the blonde from above, Shura placed one hand on her hip whilst the other rested on the barrel of rum she'd partially emptied. "That's real cute, blondie".
Something might have started then and there, but as soon as the blonde called out to the Captain for help, it seemed the Captain was more than eager to contradict the blonde. Shura watched, bemused as the red-head approached the blonde and began to insist that she wouldn't need any kind of punishment - that they were all friends. Satisfied with the situation as it unfolded, Shura smirked even more.
"See? Cap'n Red's got the right idea," Shura remarked as she leaned back against the mast, still standing. "If you want some food, you can go get it yourself. Hell, if you're really desperate, you should just fish for something over the side. I'm sure you'll find something edible". /

MADE BY ★MEULK OF GS | Messing with a seven feet tall descendant of a giant most likely wasn't the smartest thing to do if one didn't possess superhuman strength or other means capable of winning a possible fight against such an opponent, but Sela's petite frame didn't flinch the slightest bit as the raven topped female in front of her arose from the ship's wooden floor, apparently provoked by the blonde's behavior. Even if she was inferior to the drunkard in front of her in terms of strength, she, however, was convinced that she could at least keep up in terms of speed and general agility. Being looked down upon by Shura, the flaxen topped female remained motionless, simply glaring at the woman with her hazel spheres. The words coming from the giant woman obviously stated a deliberate provocation, one the young noble ignored without too much effort, since she had no intention of starting a fight. Her approach, the blunt and rather random provocation as well as asking Yumi for her opinion in an apparent attempt of gaining support against the female giant; every single one of these actions had been carefully planed in order to confirm what kind of person the female half giant was.
Sure, it was only a matter of time until the two of them got to know each other better, but who could tell how much time they had until they would have to rely on each other. Sela was about to raise her soft voice, when her hand was suddenly grabbed by the redhead, who had quickly descended from the crow's nest in order to safe Sela from being killed by Shura, and dragged away from the towering giant of a woman. Being told to not take the booze from the beast, the young navigator couldn't help, but grimace slightly in an attempt to refrain from laughing. Throwing a comfortable smile at the ruby topped captain the honey haired girl raised her voice. "No worries, captain." Her voice hadn't even faded, when the crimson topped female suddenly dashed towards the kitchen proclaiming to be taking care of dinner herself, which actually took a load off Sela's mind as she truly despised cooking herself. Hoping that the food the captain was going to prepare was more than just edible, she once again directed her attention at Shura.
This time displaying a comfortable and honest smile she quickly flipped her hat's cramp in order for her counterpart to get a better view on her passionate orbs. The straw topped pirate was glad that the woman in front of her was more than just an untamed beast that blindly gave in to agression, baring its teeth at anyone daring to oppose her one way or the other. More than happy to have Shura on the crew, Sela placed her hands on the back of her hat, stretching as she turned around, intending to make her way back to the steering wheel. "Glad to have you, 'Saru'." Her cheerful words had just escaped her peachy lips when she suddenly froze in place. The reason for this abrupt halt was a large shadow that had entered her field of vision the moment she averted her chestnut orbs from her crewmate. Sure, a simple shadow wasn't a reason to be scared at all, but its sheer size and especially the fact that it shouldn't be there in the first place, were reason enough to shock the cheerful pirate.
Not really wishing to confirm the reasonable suspicion that nagged at her heart, Sela hesitated a moment before then directing her gaze at the at the sky above only to be greeted by a giant head belonging to a creature commonly known as Sea King. Witnessing such a large creature for the first time, the young blonde was unable to do anything, but remain motionless for a moment or two, staring at the creature that towered over their vessel. It's body resembled that of a cobra wrapped into innocently ivory scales, while its face resembled the head of a penguin. Not quite able to understand how this giant creature had managed to sneak upon them without anyone noticing, she blinked in confusion as if she was trying to confirm that this creature wasn't just a mere mirage. To her surprise the large creature was gone the same moment her eyelashes parted for the third time, which as a result caused her to rub her eyes in disbelief.
Running towards the ships railing her sharp spheres scanned the surrounding area, searching for traces of this monstrous creature; an attempt that ended in failure as she was unable to find anything. Once again turning towards Shura with the intention of asking her about what she had just witnessed, the blonde's eyes once again widened, since she spotted the massive creature's head right behind her crewmate. "S-Saru... Could you... Turn... Around? I fear... We might have... A guest." |

488 "A sailer whent to sea sea sea to see what she could see see see!" Yumi sighed quietly to herself as the kitchen door shut behind her, running her fingers through her read locks in frustration. Ever since she'd had the idea to get with Shura back in Shell town she'd had a small part of her that regretted it. Sure, she could have never bagged such an impressive ship without her help, but at the same time, she wouldn't have such an uncooperative crew mate...heck she wouldn't be surprised if Shura just hopped off at the next shore and looked for another crew. Of course, Yumi loved her crew mate, and hoped she'd stay for the ride a lot longer than she may have planned herself, but if someone wanted to leave who was she to say anything against it....
"Ugh...I need to take my mind off this..." She forced her legs to drag themselves towards the kitchen, a nice little area beside the dining area. She was a little surprised the crew for this ship must have been small enough to only need 10 seats at the table, seeing as it seemed to be under marine control and all. Nevertheless it was nice to work with, plenty of spices left in the cupboards and cool storage beside the stove. Unlocking the door to said storage, she unlidded any barrels she could find, checking what they had left. Meat....meat...veg...meat....Welp, at least they had meat. Grabbing a barrel of what she could only assume were pork bits she dragged out a couple of chunks and placed them on the cutting board, pulling out the drawers and searching for a knife.
"I swear the sooner we have a cook the sooner we stop risking scurvy." Finally finding something good enough to cut the meet, Yumi chopped it up into chunks, nothing too big to chew, or too small to not fit on the end of a fork, throwing it all in a pan and throwing any leftovers back into the barrel and into storage. She was no amazing cook but she knew some basic meals. With some rice thrown in the pan, and a couple of spices thrown in for good measure, only those she could remember the names of mind, she had dinner on the go, sizzling away when she heard footsteps suddenly run about over head, leading back down to deck. "I swear if Sela and Shura are having it out again..."
Wiping her hands on a clothe and tossing it to the side the captain walked back out, pushing the door open. "Okay what's with all the running and-"
She froze. Her eyes locked on the snake like sea king.
If I close the door and turn away, it won't kill us.
Despite the words in her head, a hand now rested on her pistol. CODED BY SYLVIE

Shura took to mostly ignoring her crewmates, returning to her beloved pasttime of drinking as they conversed with one another. Raising the barrel again Shura took another few gulps of booze, drinking it all down without a care in the world. As she rested the barrel back down beside herself it seemed the blonde had turned back to her again. Ordinarily Shura would have ignored her, but a comment made by the blonde managed to crawl under her skin.
"It's Shura - nothing else," she spoke, her eyes staring up at the blonde as she sat in her place. There weren't a lot of ways to get under Shura's skin - she certainly acted like there were a lot of the time, but usually it was just a ploy to get people to fear her. But right now, Shura just felt the slightest irritation. It wasn't even the nickname itself that she took issue with - rather, the very fact the girl refused to call her by her name had been enough.
For a moment as the blonde turned around, Shura had felt at least somewhat satisfied with the look of fear on her face. But only a moment later the part-giant began to realize that the fear the blonde felt was not a direct result of Shura's own irritation. Rather, as the blonde spoke it became apparent that whatever it was that scared her was right behind her. Using the barrel to help herself up, Shura once more rose to her full height and began to turn around.
For a moment even Shura had been caught off guard. It wasn't often that she wound up staring into the eyes of something bigger than she was, but right now she was looking right up at a massive, serpentine Sea King rising out of the water. Its presence overshadowed the ship they stood on as it stared down upon them. Shura didn't even listen when Yumi arrived - she simply found herself captivated as she stared up at the humongous beast.
Then, she began to smirk.
"Well now... Aren't you a big bastard?" Shura commented as she stepped forwards. The beast continued to watch the crew, but the part-giant didn't seem to flinch. "I wonder what Sea King meat tastes like".
She wasn't just ready to stand up to a Sea King. She was goading it.

MADE BY ★MEULK OF GS | Staring at the huge creature that not only towered over Shura, but even the entire ship, the flaxen haired noble remained motionless. The books she had read all labeled Sea Kings highly dangerous and extremely violent creatures and standing in front of one, even if it seemed to be a smaller compared to the ones mentioned in literature, made her understand why these beings were feared all over the world. Not averting her gaze from the giant creature in front of her, she noticed Yumi's arrival as something red entered her field of vision. Even though there were three of them, they hardly were a match for this enormous monster. The honey haired girl instinctively raised a brow as Shura's voice reached her ears. She had read that Sea King meat was supposed to be a delicacy, but seeing this weird looking creature she somehow couldn't imagine it was true. As daring as she sadly was, the navigator slowly stepped forwards, her heals clicking on the wooden planks as she made her way towards Shura, only to stop her motions next to the tall woman.
"Do you want to find out?" Sure, most people would have considered her behavior suicidal and not just daring, but what did she have to lose in a situation like this? Sea Kings supposedly were aggressive creatures that attacked other beings without any special reason. The fact that it had noticed their ship, most likely meant that it was going to attack anyway, which in return made the choice of fighting or simply giving in to fate an easy one. Smirking confidently Sela's slender fingers slid down her delicate frame and beneath the long skirt covering her thighs. Pulling her hand away again, she revealed two small knives that rested within her hand. Quickly glancing at the redhead, she then raised her voice again. "What do you think, captain? Would you like to try Sea King for dinner?" The blond teen's comment was more of a challenge than a serious question, since they at this point in time had no choice, but to fight the serpentine beast if they wanted to survive.
After observing the women for a while with a murky expression on its penguin-like face, the giant monster suddenly fletched its teeth, obviously intending to turn the three females into a snack. Noticing the change in its mimic Sela immediately raised her voice, preparing herself for the beast's incoming attack. "Here it comes!" |

303 "A sailer whent to sea sea sea to see what she could see see see!" Okay...a giant cobra sea king was staring down their ship, and not one, but two of her crew members thought that the best idea right now was for them to fight the thing. Of course being the captain she should have the final say, but with how things were, it didn't seem like they had much of a choice either way. What were they doing in sea king waters anyway!? Sela should be keeping them away from those.
"Well! Looks like he isn't giving us time to decide! Sela! Get to the wheel! Keep us away from this thing! I'll ready a canon below deck! Shura...punch it...or...SOMETHING!"
IN a rush, Yumi dashed past her crew mates to the hatch at the other end of the ship, the beast lunging for her as she was a moving red target, forcing her to drop to her knees and slide accross the slightly soggy deck, flipping the hatch open and dropping below deck, ignoring the ladder entirely. Hopefully Sela and Shura could work together long enough for things to go okay As far as she could hear the snake like monster had gone in for another strike, making her think she just had to move faster.
Not since she procured the ship had she gotten a reason to actually check out the canons, meaning what little knowledge she had of them came from the metalworks she worked at back home. As far as she knew, she aimed, filled with gunpowerder, stuffed a cannonball in, and fired in the direction of the beast. She just needed time the girls up top to keep it busy for her till she could get everything ready. CODED BY SYLVIE

Shura continued to stride forwards across the deck, smirking still as she looked up at the gigantic monstrosity. It was a hulking, terrifying beast to be sure - in size alone it easily dwarfed the ship. Still, the part-giant stood her ground. She'd seen and known fear. She'd lived it. This beast may have been big and strong, but she'd dealt with big, terrifying things all her life.
This was just one more.
The beast let out an angry howl, roaring with such ferocity that Shura could feel the wind whipping past her face. She raised her arms defensively as she held her ground, staring up at the beast. Its breath was horrible, smelling like a thousand rotting fish. Shura had to hold her breath for a minute, disgusted by the scent. It was beginning to reel backwards, its jaws wide open to reveal its sharp teeth. But no matter how much it tried to intimidate her, Shura stood her ground.
"Never mind your bark - your breath is probably worse than your bite!" Shura exclaimed, smirking as she watched the Sea King begin to snap forwards. Lowering her arms, the part-giant used all of the power in her legs to push herself upwards, leaping high into the air over the ship. She was rising higher and higher, looking like she was ready to throw herself right into the Sea King's fangs. But Shura wasn't so suicidal. Raising her right arm in the direction of the Sea King, she grinned from ear to ear.
Her crewmates would no doubt be surprised, she thought to herself. She'd never bothered using the powers before since she'd never felt it necessary. Not a single threat up until this point made her feel like she needed to rely on her Devil Fruit. But this Sea King looked big and tough. If there was any opponent worth using her full power on, it was a beast as big and dangerous as the one right in front of her.
"Tensei!" she bellowed. For a moment it looked like the Sea King had been struck by an invisible shockwave, but looking at the beast it seemed more like something had just pushed it with an incredible strength. The beast roared as it was pushed back until it collapsed back into the ocean, crashing hard enough to produce waves. In that moment Shura landed back on the deck of the ship, her knees bending to absorb the impact of the fall. Slowly rising back up, she smirked. "C'mon, big boy. You've got more than that, don't ya?"

MADE BY ★MEULK OF GS | Sela, who had drawn her throwing knives hoping to be capable of hitting one of the monster's spheres, almost lost hold of them when the raven topped part-giant leaped into the air before then making use of what seemed like the powers of a Devil Fruit. Even though having no clue what exactly was happening, the blonde watched the huge serpent being stopped in its tracks and pushed into the ocean by an invisible force. Staring at the spot where the Sea King had previously broken through the water surface in order to turn the three women into a snack with widened eyes, it took her a moment before she then quickly put the small daggers away. With her weapons safely stored inside their holster, she then dashed towards the steering wheel in order to prepare the ship for Yumi's canon attack. Making her way towards the wooden item she couldn't help, but wonder what such a creature was doing in a place like this, far away from the territories its kind usually inhabited.
Reaching the steering wheel she immediately tried to work against the currents created by the giant monster's fall back into the ocean. Still amazed by the strength displayed with her mysterious ability. She had just managed to stabilize the vessel, when the sea serpent's motions once again created new currents, before its head once again arose from the depths of the azure surrounding them, obviously annoyed by the fact that it hadn't been able to taste the snack it had longed for. Reacting as fast as she could, the young noble turned the vessel around in order to enable the redhead to properly use the canons, while she somehow doubted that they alone would be enough to take such a huge opponent down. Even a Sea King of this size was most likely to sink a larger ship without too much effort and this Caravel-class ship therefore wasn't any more than a harmless toy to the creature, since its armature wasn't that great.
Even though the vessel wasn't well equipped, Shura's abilities allowed the flaxen topped noble to hope that they would be capable of somehow making it through this dire encounter, even though she had no idea what the ebony topped woman capable of. |
